Ukraine are proud newcomers to the pan-European UEFA Certificate in Football Management (UEFA CFM) education programme for people working in the game, with the Football Federation of Ukraine (FFU) hosting its first national edition of the programme at its headquarters in Kyiv.

Some 37 participants took part in the edition's first seminar. They came from a wide spectrum of Ukrainian football: 15 from the FFU, including two from the association's marketing wing; seven from senior Ukrainian clubs; four from the Ukrainian professional football clubs' union; two from the Ukraine Professional Football League; and one each from the professional players' and trade unions, Olimpiyskiy national sports complex in Kyiv, and the national futsal union.

The international flavour of the programme was underlined by the presence of five participants from the national associations of Kazakhstan, Moldova and Romania. The theme of the course involved an overall introduction to football management – how world football is organised, club licensing and financial fair play matters, and how UEFA's HatTrick assistance programme is helping to take European football forward in both sporting and infrastructure terms.

UEFA CFM graduates enhance their professional expertise and learn about various aspects of football. The nine-month programme comprises six interactive online modules and three face-to-face seminars. Key topics are football organisation, strategy and strategic management, operational management, marketing and sponsorship, communications, media and public relations, and event management.

Certificates are awarded by the Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration (IDHEAP) at the University of Lausanne. The UEFA CFM academic content is compiled by academics from universities in France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
